The Nova Scotia branch of the CCPA was founded in November 1999, to provide greater balance to public policy debates in the province. CCPA-NS:
- shows that there are choices and alternatives in public policy, even in the context of "globalization".
- promotes a participatory and accountable approach to the development of public policy in Nova Scotia.
- promotes policies that are socially and economically just and environmentally sustainable.
Our work is directed by a steering committee elected by CCPA-NS members. CCPA-NS comprises CCPA members who reside in Nova Scotia.
"2009 marks the tenth year of the Nova Scotia office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. It is a small but mighty organization. It has produced 115 publications over its 10 years and has gained credibility and visibility becoming a go-to organization for the media. With the help of its loyal supporters, 300 plus members and 40 plus Research Associates, it will continue to raise debate and propose policy alternatives that will get us closer to a achieving a more economically and socially just, as well as environmentally sustainable province and Atlantic region."
